Nomin Chinbat
Nomin Chinbat is Mongolia’s Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth and a current Member of the Mongolian Parliament. Through her work in government, business and philanthropy, Nomin Chinbat has become one of the leading role models for a new generation of Mongolians helping to shape their country’s future.

Nomin was first appointed as Mongolia’s Minister of Culture in January 2021. In this role she was responsible for protecting and promoting the country’s nomadic heritage while also helping to grow and promote Mongolia’s burgeoning creative industries sector.

Under her leadership, the Ministry of Culture developed a groundbreaking Cultural and Creative Industries Policy, which set out the significant contribution the cultural sector can make to the Government’s broader Vision 2050 development strategy.

Nomin also oversaw a range of reforms to support Mongolia's cultural sector, passing key laws to support museums and creative industries, and introducing incentives for film production in Mongolia. Nomin spearheaded the Mongolian ‘Cultural Creativity Bill’ from conception to implementation, which gave creative artists in Mongolia intellectual property and royalty rights over the use of their work by third parties.

In March 2023, Minister Nomin was appointed Chairperson of the National Committee for Promoting Mongolia Internationally. Her efforts have focused on promotion of Mongolian culture, arts, and heritage around the globe. She has helped to expand tourism in Mongolia by modernising the country’s tourism infrastructure and leading international marketing campaigns. These efforts saw Mongolia welcoming 810,000 tourists in 2024, a 40.3% increase compared to 2019 and a 183% rise from 2022 – boosting the economy by $1.6 billion.

Nomin was elected as a Member of the State Great Khural (Parliament) following Mongolia's General Election in June 2024, and the following month was re-appointed to her role with a larger brief as Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth.

In this new role, Nomin is responsible for ensuring every young Mongolian has opportunities and the support they need to reach their full potential, including embracing Mongolia’s rapid technological development.

Nomin has also built strong partnerships with internationally renowned cultural establishments to promote the ‘Go Mongolia’ national identity, including the Royal Academy of Arts, Cambridge University and more recently the Premier League football team Fulham FC, helping to promote Mongolia abroad,

She is engaged in philanthropy through initiatives such as Byatshan Ger, which helps underprivileged children and hearing-impaired citizens. In recognition of her achievements, Nomin won the Gold Award in the Corporate & Public Sector category at the 2024 Women Changing the World Awards, was included in the “30 under 30” listing compiled by Forbes Mongolia and listed in the Hollywood Reporter’s 2013 “Top 25 Women in Television.” She is a graduate of Harvard Business School.

Prior to entering government, Nomin founded MongolTV, one of the most viewed independent channels in Mongolia which pioneered ethical broadcasting and responsible journalism with a vision to educate and enlighten the public with nonpartisan information.

Nomin also helped establish the first five-star hotel in Mongolia, introducing global standards of hospitality in a post-Soviet state. Her hotel, Terelj Hotel Ulaanbaatar, is not only a favorite among tourists but also the largest employer and taxpayer in its locality.
